Security Guard Jade Jerome Loses Licence After Kidnapping Conviction
Published: August 27, 2025 — Wellington
The Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA) has cancelled the security licence of Jade Jerome after police raised serious concerns about his violent criminal record.
Mr Jerome was convicted of kidnapping and five other violent offences, receiving a prison sentence of four years and six months. Under section 62 of the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010, these convictions automatically disqualify him from holding a Certificate of Approval (COA).
The Authority noted that Mr Jerome:
-
Did not apply for a waiver of disqualification.
-
Provided no submissions in his defence.
-
Did not oppose the matter being dealt with “on the papers.”
“The nature and seriousness of Mr Jerome’s offending establishes that he is no longer suitable to be a responsible security worker,” the Authority said.
The cancellation of Mr Jerome’s COA took effect immediately.
